This week was the first meeting of my new pastels class. What a pleasure to have such motivated and dedicated students! The class consists of aspiring painters of all ages, and everyone showed up excited to get started. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of students… Everyone encouraged and helped each other. I felt like there was a powerful creative energy at work in the studio. There were actually moments when everyone was concentrating so hard you could hear a pin drop. We all had a wonderful time and did great things. I can’t wait until next Monday…

It’s a wrap! Tear it down, pack it up, move it out… and take a few minutes to put my feet up now that I’ve finished my 20th year at the Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show! At last, the Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show has arrived! To say that I’m excited is an understatement! Just before Christmas, I received a very special commission, and I’ve been working diligently on it over the last few weeks since I returned from Florida. One of my clients had asked if I would paint a portrait of his parents. My goal was to make my subjects come alive, as if they could literally step out of the canvas. After my relaxing Florida vacation, I’ve had a busy week of catching up, and at last things are more or less back in order here in my studio.
