Delivering toys to all the children of the world can get very tiring at times, and sometimes even Santa needs a break. As he walks around the house he smiles as he spots milk and cookies and an old train set. The next thing you know – the Jolly Old Elf himself is laying flat on his stomach.
Just as every child loves to view, he bends over so that his eye is over the train, creating a whole different world at that level. Santa cranks up the power a little. The train lights up and comes to life, slowly sparking and traveling down the track. Clickity-clack, the train circles round the platform and heads back to the curve. As the train roars past Santa and heads to the station, Ol’ St Nick just CAN”T resist: “CHOO CHOO! All Aboard!!!”

At Christmas time, snowmen have been known to come alive and Santa is all too familiar with the magic that creates it. It is the love, put into these creatures, that makes them real for all of us in our dreams at Christmas.

“Oh,…she’s just going to love this”, thinks Santa Claus as he puts the finishing touches on a rocking horse that a special little girl wanted just for her doll. More often than not, Santa likes to put on his apron and walk to the back corner of the Workshop where he likes to tinker with the old tools that he began with so many years ago at his very own workbench. The elves could always use a little help, and Santa finds that working with his hands brings a sense of peace and relaxation. “Silent Night”, being sung by Bing Crosby, plays on the old radio from a late night radio station somewhere halfway around the world. Christmas is getting nearer and all is calm, all is bright.
But it’s not the toy making, nor the music, that brings the smile to Santa’s face. It will be the look of joy, on that little girl’s face on Christmas morning when she comes downstairs to see the toys that were made just for her.
“Making Magic in Santa’s Workshop” is the second painting in Linda’s new “Jolly Old Elf” series of five holiday Santa paintings. These metal plates are seven inches round.

The painting, “Shhhh!” takes you back to your early childhood with thoughts of Santa and what he meant to you. He is the Santa who is jolly, warm, has rosy cheeks and wants nothing more than to make every little child glad. You are no longer the grown-up, but that 4 year old sneaking down the steps to catch a glimpse of Santa. Surprised, Santa motions and whispers, “Shhhh!”.
Festive, bright and true to life, for those from Pittsburgh it has a clever twist of a “painting within a painting”. “Waiting for You under Kaufmann’s Clock” may be a sold out print, but lives again in Linda’s new painting as background to “Shhhh!”. This rendering is a charming reminder of the annual ritual of the ride into downtown Pittsburgh to see the Christmas windows! All in all, “Shhhh!” not only ushers in the season of joy and wonder, but brings with it a great feeling of nostalgia that makes you want to share it with your family and friends.
“Shhhh!” is the first painting in Linda’s new “Jolly Old Elf” series of five holiday Santa paintings.

An artist-enhanced archival giclée print is a limited edition print that is reproduced digitally with a process utilizing six specially formulated archival pigmented inks and a sophisticated color matching system. The paper used is archival quality and acid free. The giclée reproduction system produces prints that are superior in color and likeness to Linda’s original paintings. They will not fade or discolor and will last a lifetime. Linda adds further value to her giclée prints by personally enhancing them by hand with rich, soft pastels and strong vibrant colors.
Linda Barnicott is very happy to add prints using this quality reproduction method to her line of nostalgic limited edition prints.
